Installation of a proseries tower:
You are given clear instruction manual.
A quick and overview to be used with the manufacturers instructions.
NOTE: you will need to place reinforce under the deck at the mounting points. Depending upon the hull fibreglass thickness and age - cracking of the gelcoat can occur over time. please make sure you rienforce the underneat the deck.
You can install the tower yourself Joystick have had numerous customers all over the world install their own tower.
If you are not sure about it - seek a local boat dealer or repairer who can install for you.
You will have fun removing the shrink warp protection from the tower parts: grab the instructions and make sure all the parts are in the box
Grab the front arm - rear leg - front swivel section and fitting for the rear leg to mount to the front arm built it up like the picture above. Measure between the bottom mounting points 56inches then tighten the top fitting.
Now have two mates hold the side of the tower along side of your boat - see what lines suit the boat Cconsider where the tow point will be in regards to weight of the boat - look at other customers boat in the gallery with outboards and lighter boats position the tow point more towers the rear. One you are happy with the position mark the front position. Double check under the deck areas where you want the mounts to go - for access - objects and wiring.
After you have made a mark - put masking tap over the area then grab the spare backing plate and mark the position of 4 smaller holes. After marking the front mounting point - work off this point to measure the other positions. Take a measurement from the front of the boat - and also off another point to have two references to line up Then measure 56inch from the front mount to the position of the rear mount ( the measurement is centre to centre) Tape and mark out all the mounting points WARNING: before drilling double check the area under the deck for object or wiring...
Once you have marked out - time to put some holes in your boat. TIP: when doing the centre hole for the mount - put the backing plate in place with the four smaller outside bolts in position this way you will get the centre hole exact. Remove the tape and clean up the holes - grab the four smaller bolts rubber and mounting plate and insert into position.Underneath the deck - the longer and wider the better - The best method is to fibre glass the area and join the deck to the hull as most boats have the deck screwed down to the hull - to further strengthing and stop any lifting of the deck off the hull.
Grab the large bolt and insert into the mounting ears then insert into the large centre hole and hand tighten the nut allowing the ear to move. (remember to tighten once the tower is in position)
Grab the front arms lay them on the ground - attach the front swivel section - loosen all the grub screws making sure every thing moves an all fittings - before sliding the front arms into the top tube - measure along the section of the front arm that slides into the tube and make a mark near the curve - do the same to the other side. THIS WILL HELP CENTRE THE TOW point at the end - slide the top tube over both arms.
Lift up this section and attach to the front ear on the mounts. lay on the boat making sure you protect the boat - then attach the rear legs to the front arms do not tighten too much - then with two people lift the rear legs pushing the front up and place the rear legs on the the rear mounts and attach. (You should be able to move the ears and fittings on the arms into poistion.
Position the tow point in the centre and level using the marks you made earlier - drill through the top tube - place one bolt to hold in position - whilst you drill the others and attach the bolts. The last thing to do is go around and tighten everything up - put lock tight on all the small grub screws IT TAKES ABOUT 2-4 hours to install with a couple of mates... USE THIS GUIDE WITH THE MANUFACTURES INSTRUCTIONS.
NOTE: After using for the first time check the bolts and double check.
Check the tower and fittings on a regular basis - especially if you are driving long distances on rough roads - fittings - bolts coming loose will cause stress on the fibreglass and cracking of the gelcoat.
Folding down the tower - loosen the front bolt on the fitting from the tower. - either romove the rear legs completely or just loosen the top fitting and remove the bottom bolt then swing the legs up in the air and lay down the tower...making sure you protect you boat from damage...
